I had just released my website at www.cybersist.com. The project goes back 3 years as I was develop something similar for my own use. Last year I decided to make it commercial and spent 6-7 months part time in developing what is called Cybersist.com now. Is basically a complete Personal Information Management (PIM) web application with personal email, contact list, calendar, blogs, photos sharing, file storage and many more. Its like Yahoo.. but with same interface. You can even change your own theme. I actualy dunno how people will accept it. During the last month I had going through the internet to look for link partners, I had found quite many of them and after a month webbots are starting to crawing my website. But the sign up rate is still very low. Its kinda hard to identify the reason. I get about 30 unique users per day now still the sign up rate is about two per week. I guess the main reason is the lack of activity on my website. I had posted as many photos as I can and share it to the public it does attact people but I need higher sign up rates Maybe I need more time. Any entrepreneur out there there that can give me a tip or too. Brad!!??

Do you offer a service that people can't get elsewhere? What makes your specific site stand out amongst the horde of free similar services (you even admit to using a very familiar interface)? These are really important questions to ask yourself when putting out a site like that. JoeUser stands out from other blog sites in its community, and how it brings attention to particularly interesting articles (the featured ones on the front page) and the easy to follow list of recent updates and forum posts etc... That is what makes this site an attractive service. Once you figure out what your main selling point is (aside from it being free... free is too common now, people expect it), then you can better market it/advertise it. At this point, most people either have a series of sites that do what you do in one spot, or already have a similar service. You need to find a way to make it obvious that your site is the best one to use.

Thanks for the comment. The selling point of Cybersist.com is that it combines all the popular web activities out there into one account and one similar interface (for ease of use). This is like a combination of yahoo mail, yahoo photos, yahoo briefcase, yahoo calendar, yahoo notes.... into one familiar interface and one simple account. I think a typical web user do one or more activities on the internet. I am a frequent user of webmail, I also like to share photos, occasionally write blogs, so with one account at Cybersist.com you can do everything. Thats what my main idea is.
